PM: Cambodia not allow any one to use Cambodia as shelter against other countries

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Tuesday said that his country does not allow foreigners and international organizations to use Cambodia as a stronghold to create illegal political and international organizations to oppose neighboring countries.

Hun Sen made the remarks at the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Brigade 70 on the outskirts of Phnom Penh.

Ferry owner charged with manslaughter

THE owner of an overloaded ferry that capsized in Kratie province earlier this month has been charged in the deaths of 17 people who drowned in the disaster, even though police have yet to find the man, court officials confirmed Thursday.

Uch Ry was charged with 17 counts of involuntary manslaughter late last week, Kratie provincial prosecutor Sou Rasmei said Thursday.

Overloaded ferry kills 17 Cambodians in Mekong

PHNOM PENH (Reuters) - At least 17 people were missing and presumed drowned in Cambodia after an overloaded ferry sank in the Mekong river, officials said on Sunday.

The 14 women and three men were traveling to a local Buddhist temple to watch a performance in northeastern Kratie province, about 200 km (124 miles) from the capital Phnom Penh, when their ferry sank in a tributary late on Saturday in strong currents.

The number of confirmed swine flu cases in Cambodia has risen to 88, the Ministry of Health announced last week.

The latest figure, released on Thursday, represents a significant climb over the previous tally of 68 cases reported before September 16. So far, no deaths from the influenza A(H1N1) virus, commonly known as swine flu, have been reported in the Kingdom.

PRICES at petrol stations climbed about 3 percent Wednesday, despite calls last week from Prime Minister Hun Sen for lower fuel costs, and petroleum officials said additional price spikes should be expected as world oil prices rise.

Caltex, Total and Tela stations on Wednesday raised petrol prices to 4,200 riels [US$1.02] per litre for super petrol, from 4,050 riels Tuesday, and 3,950 riels for regular petrol from 3,850 riels.

Mental illnes is in Boom In Cambodia

The amount of mental illness patients is rapidly increasing from 60 percents to 90 percents recently due to economical crisis, childhood experience, social instability and many other problems occurred in Cambodia society, the deputy director of mental illness at Soviet Hospital said.

Dr. Yim Sobotra, the mental illness expert, said that he is concerned about the increase, since the old and new patients are rising day by day.
